Ringette Camp, Clinic and the 2014 season
Submitted By Brian Vink on Tuesday, August 12, 2014
We hope everyone has been enjoying their summer!  Preparations for the upcoming of season of Ringette are well underway and we wanted to make you aware of a number of upcoming dates and activities.

We still have some limited availability in our Elora-Fergus summer Ringette Camp for players aged 6 – 14.  The camp runs from 7:30am to 1pm daily from August 18 to 22 and includes 2-3 hours of ice per day, Zumba classes, dryland activities and power skating instruction by a Team Canada 2013 player.  The camp is all about fun and ends with a camp wide pizza party with water balloons, races and activities.  If you are interested, please contact Jennifer Amos-Harrison at 519-837-7058 as soon as possible and see the registration form for more information:  http://elorafergusringette.ca/Public/Documents/Ringette%20Camp%20Registration%20Pkg14.doc

Team Ontario 2015 will compete at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, BC this February.  As part of their training camp, they are hosting a clinic for the Elora-Fergus Ringette Association on Friday, August 29 at 6:30pm at the Fergus Sportsplex.  Players will receive quality instruction from Team Ontario players and have a chance to have photos taken and autographs signed.  Team Ontario will practice following the clinic, so please plan to stay and watch a high performance technical ice session!  Registration is $40 for the one hour clinic and includes a Team Ontario t-shirt that can be autographed by Team Ontario.  The clinic is recommended for ages 9-13 and you should register as soon as possible using the following form and contacting Rob Hurry at [email protected] so we can guarantee shirt sizing!  http://elorafergusringette.ca/Public/Documents/Team%20Ontario%20Clinic%20Registration.pdf

Elora Fergus Ringette will be holding its annual “Come Try Ringette” event on September 6th at 3:00pm at the Elora arena.  We appreciate all of you helping us to invite any players from 5-13 years old who are looking to get an introduction to ringette.  We especially ask existing players to invite a friend to come with them.  Come Try Ringette is all about fun, having a skate and getting an introduction to ringette – there are even games and snacks.  There is no commitment and the event is free.  We ask that players bring their own skates and helmets (we will have a limited number) and we will supply the rest.  See the flyer for more information and of course feel free to forward it to your friends!  We will be taking registrations at cometryringette.ca within the next few days or you can contact our registrar at [email protected]  http://elorafergusringette.ca/Public/Documents/EF-Come%20Try%20Ringette%20Ad.pdf

We will also be offering our very popular used equipment exchange that day.  Any donations of used equipment would be greatly appreciated as many of our new players use this exchange to help offset the cost typically associated with starting out in our sport.  Old masks and sticks would be especially appreciated.  Please contact Jennifer for details if you have equipment you are willing to donate:  [email protected]

Many of our provincial teams will be on the ice during the first week of September.  This is a reminder to those players that for insurance reasons, except for tryouts, no players are allowed on the ice until they are registered.  We expect that our regional program (U7-U19) will begin during the weekend of September 13th and our Learn to Skate program to start first week of October.  Please email us at [email protected] if you are interested in helping to coach or assist the bench for any of these teams. Please stay tuned for more details and we’ll be posting the schedule to our new website soon.
