Phishing Email Alert

Oct. 06, 2026

Hello EFRA Members,

We’ve been made aware that a phishing email is currently circulating that appears to be from me/EFRA and is being sent to members of our ringette community.

The sender is using my name and referencing EFRA, coaches and ringette in an effort to make the message appear legitimate. In at least one instance, the sender eventually asked the recipient to purchase Apple gift cards.

Please do not respond to these messages, click any links, provide personal information, or purchase gift cards.

A few important reminders:

  • EFRA Board members and coaches will never email you asking you to purchase gift cards or send gift card numbers/codes.
  • Please check the actual email address a message was sent from, not just the name displayed.
  • If you receive an unusual request that appears to come from an EFRA Board member or coach, please verify it with that person through a separate method before responding.
  • If you receive one of these emails, please mark it as phishing/spam and delete it.

At this point, this appears to be someone impersonating EFRA contacts rather than sending messages from our legitimate email accounts.

Unfortunately, these messages can be quite convincing because scammers may use publicly available information about our association to make their emails sound credible. Please be especially cautious with any unexpected request involving money, gift cards or personal information.

Thank you to the members who brought this to our attention so quickly.
