U19B Head Coach Position Description


Position Summary

The U19B Head Coach plays a critical role in providing athletes with a meaningful and rewarding final stage of youth ringette. Athletes at this level are developing greater ownership of their sport experience while balancing increasing commitments related to school, work, and other activities.

This is a volunteer leadership position responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive, and development-focused environment where athletes can continue to compete, develop leadership skills, and strengthen their lifelong connection to ringette.

The successful candidate will be supported by the association through coach development opportunities, program resources, mentorship, and assistance with recruiting assistant coaches, team staff, and other volunteers as needed.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Continued development of advanced ringette skills and game understanding.
  • Encouraging athlete leadership, independence, and accountability.
  • Supporting athlete retention during a period when many athletes face competing priorities.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive team culture where athletes feel valued and supported.
  • Encouraging athletes to remain engaged in the sport beyond their playing years through coaching, officiating, volunteering, mentoring, and other leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Strong skating ability and comprehensive understanding of ringette fundamentals and gameplay.
  • Previous coaching, teaching, leadership, or athlete development experience.
  • Completion of all required Ringette Ontario and Ringette Canada certifications, screening requirements, and Safe Sport training.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
  • Commitment to athlete-centred coaching and Long-Term Athlete Development principles.

Preferred

  • Previous playing experience in ringette.
  • Previous coaching experience in ringette or comparable team sports.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Experience working with older youth athletes.
