U14B Head Coach Position Description


Position Summary

The U14B Head Coach plays a key role in supporting athletes as they continue their transition from foundational development toward more advanced team play and competition. This stage is often where athletes begin to develop a stronger understanding of teamwork, personal accountability, and commitment to the sport.

This is a volunteer leadership position that plays an important role in athlete development, retention, and fostering a positive team experience. The successful candidate will be supported by the association through coach development opportunities, program resources, mentorship, and assistance with recruiting assistant coaches, team staff, and other volunteers as needed.

The U14B Head Coach is responsible for leading all aspects of team operations and athlete development while creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that promotes skill development, sportsmanship, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Continued development of skating, ringette skills, and game awareness.
  • Building athlete confidence through meaningful participation and skill progression.
  • Teaching teamwork, accountability, and positive competitive behaviours.
  • Supporting athlete retention through positive experiences and strong team culture.
  • Introducing athletes to increased levels of responsibility, goal setting, and self-confidence.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Strong skating ability and knowledge of ringette fundamentals and gameplay.
  • Previous coaching, teaching, leadership, or athlete development experience.
  • Completion of all required Ringette Ontario and Ringette Canada certifications, screening requirements, and Safe Sport training.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to athlete-centred coaching and Long-Term Athlete Development principles.

Preferred

  • Previous playing experience in ringette.
  • Previous coaching experience in ringette or comparable team sports.
  • Current First Aid certification.

A successful U14B Head Coach creates an environment where athletes continue to improve their skills, build confidence, develop positive relationships, and strengthen their commitment to the sport. Success is measured through athlete development, enjoyment, sportsmanship, team culture, and athlete retention.
