U16B Head Coach Position Description
Position Summary
The U16B Head Coach plays an important role in supporting athletes through a critical stage of their athletic and personal development. Athletes at this level are developing greater independence, leadership skills, and personal responsibility while continuing to refine their ringette skills and game understanding.
This is a volunteer leadership position responsible for creating a positive, challenging, and development-focused environment where athletes can continue to grow as players, teammates, and young leaders.
The successful candidate will be supported by the association through coach development opportunities, program resources, mentorship, and assistance with recruiting assistant coaches, team staff, and other volunteers as needed.

- Advanced development of skating, ringette skills, and tactical understanding.
- Supporting athlete leadership, accountability, and personal growth.
- Encouraging goal-setting, resilience, and positive team contributions.
- Creating a positive team culture that supports both competitive development and athlete retention.
- Helping athletes develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong connection to sport and physical activity.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Strong skating ability and comprehensive understanding of ringette fundamentals and gameplay.
- Previous coaching, teaching, leadership, or athlete development experience.
- Completion of all required Ringette Ontario and Ringette Canada certifications, screening requirements, and Safe Sport training.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
- Commitment to athlete-centred coaching and Long-Term Athlete Development principles.
Preferred
- Previous playing experience in ringette.
- Previous coaching experience in ringette or comparable team sports.
- Current First Aid certification.
- Experience working with adolescent athletes.

A successful U16B Head Coach helps athletes develop confidence, leadership skills, accountability, and a strong sense of belonging within their team. Success is measured through athlete development, team culture, sportsmanship, retention, leadership growth, and positive athlete experiences both on and off the ice.
