March 27, 2021
Today we officially wrapped our 2020/21 season - a season like no other - and I want to extend thanks to our board members, coaches, safety coordinators, parents, and players for coming together to help make it possible.
At the onset of the season we set out with 2 main goals for programming: to give our players a chance to be on the ice and to keep everyone safe. I am very proud that with everyone’s efforts, we were able to achieve these goals.
Impact by the numbers from October to March:
The safety of our participants was our top concern when deciding to get back on the ice. We were grateful to have so much support and guidance from Ringette Ontario, the Western Region Ringette Association, the Township of Centre Wellington, the Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health Unit, and or course Bruce Parkin, our COVID19 Safety Leader.
Looking ahead to next year, I am all hopeful that with the roll-out of vaccines, cases of COVID19 will reduce sufficiently and allow us to return to a more traditional season.
In the meantime, work is needed off-ice to ensure the future growth of our association. We can do this by building awareness of ringette in our community; attracting and retaining new young players to our sport; and recruiting and training new coaches and officials.
To achieve these goals, we need everyone’s help.
To that end, I extend an open invitation to please hold June 15th, 7-9 pm, in your calendars to join our virtual Annual General Meeting and consider becoming more involved in the association. If you’re interested or would like to learn more, please contact efr@elorafergusringette.ca.
In the meantime, thank you all for making this season a success and I hope everyone has a great summer.
